Monument erected on February 28, 1882 by popular subscription. The old bridle path that linked Cúcuta with the western towns and with Ocaña passed through there. The historic meeting between Simón Bolívar's troops and the royalist forces led by Brigadier Ramón Correa took place on this hill on February 28, 1813. The combat lasted a short time and the number of casualties was very low. Some historians put them at four to six. The so-called battle of Cúcuta had, however, important political and military repercussions, since it allowed Bolívar to take the city and establish his headquarters there for more than two months. Likewise, he seized the valuable war material left in his flight by the enemy and was also able to calmly plan what has been called the Admirable Campaign in the history of independence, which culminated months later with the capture of Caracas. Since its construction, the authorities, the schools and the military forces have used to come to this monument in solemn parade on February 28 of each year, to pay tribute to the liberators of 1813.

In Cúcuta by land. It is located on Trasversal 17 with streets 4 and 5, Barrio Loma de Bolívar.

It was the work of the sculptor Pedro Tobías Vega, built in 1923 in a spiral shape, it is 6 meters high and at the top it holds a bronze sphere.
