Opened in 1958, the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) has a privileged location and lots of history to tell. It houses a collection of four thousand works. Rotably displays the collection of Gilberto Chateaubriand - with paintings by Anita Malfatti, Tarsila do Amaral, Lasar Segall, Di Cavalcanti and Portinari. The gardens designed by Burle Marx went through restoration in 2004. There is also cinematheque, library and bookstore. It is located on D. Henrique Avenue, Parque Flamengo neighborhood. It works from Tuesday to Sunday: during the week, from 12h to 17h30; on Saturdays and Sundays, from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m. Information: +55 (21) 2240-4944.
